Artist Introduction

Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a famous French painter and the founder of Impressionism, known as the "Father of Impressionism".

He was keen on outdoor sketching all his life, devoting himself to capturing the fleeting changes of light, shadow and colors in nature. His representative work Impression, Sunrise officially gave birth to the Impressionist art school. In his later years, he focused on creating the grand Water Lilies series, whose artistic conception was profound and laid an important foundation for the development of modern art.
